Electoral Registration Form - Make Sure You are Eligible to Vote!
NEWS RELEASE
Complete your electoral registration form
Angus and Perth & Kinross residents will shortly receive their annual electoral registration
form through the post and are being encouraged to complete and return it promptly.
Included with this form will be a Young Person’s Registration form to allow 15 year olds who
will reach 16 years of age, on or before 18 September 2014, to register to vote at next year’s
Scottish Independence Referendum.
Electors do not have to return the Young Person’s Registration form if there is no-one within
your household who meets the criteria to be included on the form.
Electoral registration staff are working closely with schools, colleges and all other
educational establishments in both areas to gather data on all 15 to 18 year olds for the
2014 referendum.
Alastair Kirkwood, Electoral Registration Officer for Angus and Perth & Kinross, said
“Registering to vote is quick and simple. All you have to do is update your electoral
registration forms with details of everyone who lives in the household and is eligible to vote;
and return to us as soon as possible in the pre-paid envelope.
If your details haven’t changed you can simply reply by telephone, internet or text message
instead.
This is the last annual canvass before the European Parliament election on 22 May 2014
and the Scottish Independence Referendum on 18 September 2014 therefore you should
return your forms to ensure you are eligible to vote.
Anyone who has not received a form by 7 October, or who would like more information,
should contact the local electoral registration office.”
Residents in Angus Council should contact the office in Forfar on 01307 462416. Residents
of Perth & Kinross should contact the Perth office on 01738 630303.
